Year 13 Senior

Two Year 13 students at Monkton, Tabi W and Alex B, have received offers from Cambridge and Oxford University respectively.

Alex is studying A levels in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Music and has received an offer to study medicine at Merton College.

Alex, who joined Monkton in Kindergarten at the age of just three, is also an extremely talented musician.

“I’ve really loved it, especially the breadth of opportunity to study whilst pursuing my music. Everyone here cares about you and it’s so easy to get on with people. The teachers are honestly brilliant. They take a personal interest in me, know me all by name, so it’s like having multiple tutors.”

Monkton focuses on the journey of each individual in a way that is tangibly different; providing a plethora of opportunities and support to allow our students a breadth of experience and guidance from which to choose their next steps. “The school urged us not to specialise in anything too early. So I have really appreciated the opportunity to try out lots of things and discover what I enjoy and can then pursue.”

Tabi is studying A levels in English Literature, Biology and Theology, Philosophy and Ethics, having completed an Extended Project Qualification in Year 12, and has received an offer to study philosophy at Selwyn College.

Tabi joined Monkton in Year 4 as a boarder. She comes from a military family and Monkton has been a home away from home throughout her time at school.

“My family have been moving all over the world, so the stability that Monkton has offered me has been amazing.”

She added, “Especially having teachers that can follow your progress and develop an understanding of study methods that work for you, allowing me to thrive in every aspect of school life.”

“My smallest class is six people and we have two teachers, so they all know my strengths and weaknesses, are willing to set up meetings and offer extra teaching in areas where I have needed it so the support has been incredible.”

Monkton are so proud of Tabi and Alex and we wish them every success at university, where we have no doubt they will continue to thrive.
