Monkton is seeking to appoint a part-time Teacher of Art (with an ability to teach Textiles, Fine Art, welcomed) from 1st September 2025. A willingness to work collaboratively, and get fully and energetically involved in the co-curricular and pastoral life of the School is essential. This role is suitable for ECT/PGCE students. 

Art is taught in our purpose built centre, shared with the Design Department. Students are encouraged to think critically, developing their innovative and creative proficiency through designing and making high quality products. The department offers GCSE’s in Fine Art, Photography and 3D Design, with A levels in these three as well as Textiles and Graphic Communication.

Accounts Assistant

Accounts Assistant

Full-time or part-time considered (32 to 40 hours)

Salary: up to £28,000 depending on experience

We have an exciting opportunity in our dynamic Finance team as an Accounts Assistant to perform daily accounting tasks that will support our finance team. The ideal candidate will be honest, hardworking, with attention to detail, and able to work in both a team and independently with some previous finance and accounting administration experience.

This is a broad, hands-on and collaborative role, reporting to the Management Accountant, covering a number of areas including payroll, billing, purchase ledger and credit control. Ultimately, you will perform a vital role in helping our Finance department run smoothly, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions in a dynamic team environment.

Previous finance administration experience would be an advantage, however full training will be provided to the right candidate and we welcome applications from those looking to start as an apprentice.

Roles and responsibilities

Purchase Ledger

  • Process purchase invoices - matching to purchase orders and attaching correct documentation
  • Produce monthly budget reports
  • Administer fortnightly payment run
  • Process staff expense claims, ensuring these have the correct sign off
  • Process credit card transactions, ensuring these have the correct sign off
  • Reconcile supplier statements and liaise with suppliers

Nursery Key Worker

Monkton is seeking to appoint Early Years practitioners to support our growing pupil roll, we welcome applications form those wanting to work full time, part time or on a supply basis. We are looking for people who are comfortable and passionate about being responsible for a small group of children to help them feel safe and cared for. You will be responsible for observing and developing pupils' learning within the Early Years. As the successful candidate, you will hold a Level 2 or ideally a Level 3 Early Years qualification and will be seeking to develop and support in a school that grows fruitful people through innovation and a commitment to professional growth, and prioritises positive relationships over systems.

The full time role would be Monday to Friday. The working hours are 37.5 or 41.5  hours per week; 8am-4pm 4 days a week (15 minute morning break and 30 minute lunch break) and 1 longer days- 8am-6pm  (15 minute morning break, 30 minute lunch break and 15 minute afternoon break). The role is for 41 weeks per year (including holiday pay) and the salary offered will be £12.12 per hour, £18,635 or £20,622 per year (depending on hours worked).

We are looking for a Chef to join our team on a permanent basis to support in giving an outstanding experience and contribute to our ethos of fresh, modern, British cooking using sustainable, honest, local ingredients. The School has a varied menu which includes breakfast, lunches and suppers as well as a variety of weddings, formal dinners and residential lets throughout the year.

Some experience within a similar role or school environment would be desirable as we provide around 9000 meals per week during term time across our two sites plus a wide range of hospitality events.

Swimming Coach

Hours of work: Tuesday 7am-8am, Wednesday 10.15am-11.00am, 1.45pm-3.15pm, and Saturday 7.00am-8.30am.

Salary: £20 per hour 

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated swim coach to join a hard working and friendly Sports Department as they continue driving sport forward with a whole school approach. The successful candidate will be an exceptional coach required to assist with Swimming sessions for a range of age groups from Reception through to our Senior School students in our Monkton Leisure Centre based at the Monkton Prep School. The aim of this role is to assist with swimming coaching across our School swim squad and Reception to Year 2 classes.

This position would report to and work alongside our Head of Individual Sport, Head of Swimming Development as well as the Head of PE, to deliver Swimming coaching to a range of year groups.

Swim Squad is our extra-curricular Swimming provision for students from Year 3 to Year 13 and the working hours for this will be Tuesday morning 7.00am-8.00am and Saturday morning 7.00am-8.00am (with S&C from 8.00am to 8.30am) with the potential to occasionally support with some Monday evening sessions. For this role we will also be looking for someone to support and coach our Reception - Year 2 Swimming lessons on a Wednesday which take place from 10.15am-11.00am and 1.45pm-3.15pm.These sessions will involve teaching a group of students of mixed ability to work on and improve their Swimming skills.

Monkton Leisure is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Sports Club Supervisor to monitor all activities that take place in the Sports Club. Our facilities include a 25m indoor pool, gym and dance studio. Commercial Swimming Teacher

We are seeking a qualified Swim Teacher to teach a range of aquatic skills for both individual and group lessons using the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming. You would work with the Head of Swimming Development to develop and improve both the Swim School programme and the private lesson programme.

You might also be asked to support as an Assistant Swim Teacher as and when the need arises.

Specific duties:

  • To work with groups and individual swimmers to help them achieve the aims required by the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS)
  • Undertaking administrative duties such as grading or taking payments for private lessons to support the delivery of an effective programme

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and professional Hockey Coach on a casual basis to join at an exciting time for Monkton as we look to take sport forward with a whole school approach. They will support the standards and the vision for a successful department, helping to shape the morale of both the department and the pupils of the school through their coaching, management and the inspiration with which they coach the sport. 

This position would report to and work under the Director and Assistant Director of Sport, as well as the Head of Hockey, to deliver the hockey programme across the school. They would be joining a hardworking and friendly Sports department who will all be working across the whole school.

The aim of the role is to represent Monkton School and to support the school’s objective of providing excellent standards of sports throughout all interactions with parents and pupils, while also upholding and applying the Monkton School values and mission statement.

Casual Rowing Coach

Pay dependent on experience, between £20 and £30 per hour

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and professional Casual Rowing Coach to join a hard working and friendly team. We welcome applications from individuals with recent coaching and/or performance experience.  The successful candidate will be an experienced, enthusiastic, and committed coach required to support rowing sessions during the Lent and Summer terms.

Holiday Camp Assistant

Monkton Holiday Camp Assistant

Casual contract, £11.44 to £12.21 per hour

To start July 2025

Monkton Leisure is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Children’s Holiday Camp Assistant on a casual basis during the school holidays, whose primary responsibility is to assist with the day to day running of the popular Monkton Minis and Muckers holiday play schemes. This scheme is for 4-8 and 8-14 year old children based at Monkton Combe School (most commonly the Prep and Pre-Prep sites). Monkton Holiday Camps run from 8:15am to 5:30pm. 

Monkton Leisure is a developing and growing enterprise and there are significant training and development and career progression opportunities for the right candidate who is looking to start and pursue a career in the leisure industry.
