Early Years Practitioner

Salary: £12.12 per hour, £18,635 or £20,622 per year (depending on hours worked)

Monkton is seeking to appoint a full time Early Years Practitioner who is comfortable, enthusiastic and passionate about being responsible for helping young children feel safe and cared for in a nurturing environment. You will be responsible for observing and developing pupils' learning within our Early Years team, supporting the Early Years Leader. You will hold a Level 2, or ideally a Level 3, Early Years qualification and will be looking to work in a school that grows fruitful people through innovation and a commitment to professional growth, and prioritises positive relationships.

A key element of this role is to support the provision of our longer day between 4pm-6pm, which is why two of the days are longer.

Hospitality Supervisor/Team Leader

Would you like to join a small, yet dedicated team committed to providing a tip top service to our 

customers? We are looking for a Hospitality Supervisor/Team Leader to join our team. The successful candidate will be able to proactively supervise the service of high quality food while operating within the agreed budget, under the direction of the Catering Management Team.

In this role, you will be in control of our front-line customer service team on a shift-by-shift basis ensuring the skillful, smooth and timely delivery of all our food services with support from your management team and senior chefs.  You will have total accountability for leading our customer focussed workforce to provide the hospitality services required across Monkton on a daily basis. You’ll need to monitor quality, ensuring staff under your direction perform well and gather customer feedback. You will also work closely with the Assistant Manager to ensure all costs are accountable and with the senior management team on any marketing communication initiatives.

Finance Manager

Monkton is seeking to hire a passionate and focused individual with excellent attention to detail to join our Finance team as the Finance Manager. The aim of this role is to provide effective, high quality management of all financial tasks and services and will have immediate line management responsibility for all finance staff. The successful candidate will also provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.

This is a broad, hands-on and collaborative role, responsible for the production of high quality, accurate termly management accounts, cashflow forecasts, year end accounts preparation, general ledger accuracy, budget preparation and monitoring, overseeing the commercial accounting and deputising for the Director of Finance when required. Ultimately, you will perform a vital role in helping our Finance department run smoothly, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions in a dynamic team environment.

Receptionist

We are seeking a Receptionist at the Senior School to help us offer a warm and professional welcome to visitors at the Senior School site.  

The purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Senior School reception. Grounds & Garden Operative

Full time, permanent

The Garden side of our team is seeking to appoint a full time Grounds and Gardens Operative to join our dedicated and talented team working across all three school sites based on the outskirts of Bath. The successful candidate will come with a background in Horticulture, desirably holding NVQ2 Amenity Horticulture or equivalent, and will have a pride and passion for ensuring the schools beautiful grounds and gardens are maintained and presented to an exceptional standard throughout the year. 

Key responsibilities

  • General gardening, turf care, grass cutting and similar work which may include heavy lifting.
  • Maintenance of flowerbeds, weeding, hoeing, planting, pruning etc.
  • Maintenance of various trees to include using a wood chipper when required.
  • Hedge trimming and cutting back brambles etc.
  • Managing and maintaining tubs and hanging baskets.
  • On occasions the operative may be required to assist the Grounds team with carrying out tasks on the schools sports facilities, including erection and dismantling of equipment and general pitch care.
  • Maintenance of ditches, paths and removal of grass clippings and leaves etc.
  • Operating various machinery, this would include pedestrian and ride on mowers,two stroke and electric handheld equipment, driving tractors and Utility vehicles.
  • Maintain watercourses, assist with tree lopping, repairs to hard landscape areas including large and small projects.
  • Installation of fencing around the school site plus maintaining existing fencing.
  • Carry out weed spraying, application of fertilisers, chemicals etc. and ensure spray records are maintained and kept up to date.
  • Attend appropriate training courses to allow safe use of chainsaws and other power equipment, if required and as agreed with the Grounds and Gardens Manager.
  • Care and maintenance of the small school farm, particularly during the school holidays, including mucking out the enclosure and replenishing hay. The role therefore includes some work around live animals (sheep, goats, alpaca).

We are looking for a Chef to join our team on a permanent basis to support in giving an outstanding experience and contribute to our ethos of fresh, modern, British cooking using sustainable, honest, local ingredients. The School has a varied menu which includes breakfast, lunches and suppers as well as a variety of weddings, formal dinners and residential lets throughout the year.

Some experience within a similar role or school environment would be desirable as we provide around 9000 meals per week during term time across our two sites plus a wide range of hospitality events. 

What you’ll do as a Chef:

  • Ensure that all your food is prepared, cooked and presented to the highest possible standards.

Domestic Supervisor

Are you passionate about providing the best possible service? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for an energetic and motivated Domestic Supervisor to join our dedicated Domestic Services team at Monkton Combe School. 

In this role, you will support the Housekeeping Manager and Domestic Services Manager in the day to day running and supervision of the Domestic services team. The working hours will be from 5:30am to 1:30pm Monday to Friday, with a requirement to work an occasional Saturday to cover special functions.

Monkton is seeking to appoint two dedicated and professional nurses to join our small, hardworking and friendly medical centre team working across the whole school.

The aim of the role is to support pupils’ health and wellbeing so that they can fully participate in school life and provide health care to members of the school community. In both areas, the medical centre team strives to develop and maintain positive and mutually supportive relationships with the wider school community, particularly those at the core of our exceptional pastoral care.

Our nurses work on a shift basis across both sites and therefore a flexible approach to this is essential. Due to the nature of the role, and in keeping with the nature of an Independent Boarding School, hours of work can include evenings and weekends.

Medical Pupil Escort

This role requires a flexible time commitment

Rate of pay: £10.90 per hour

We are seeking a Medical Escort to accompany pupils to scheduled, non-emergency medical appointments, acting in a non-medical capacity as a responsible adult. 

You will be responsible for the care and welfare of the pupils travelling, ensuring that they reach their destination safely. To help you achieve this, you will be expected to attend all appropriate training as and when required.

Swimming Teacher and Swimming Coach

Start date: September 2024

One year fixed-term contract, term-time only, part-time

Hours of work: Wednesday 7:00am-8:00am, 10:15am-11:00am, 1:45pm-3:00pm; Friday 3:00-4:00pm; and Saturday 7:30am-8:30am.

Salary: £20 per hour 

 

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated swim coach to join a hard working and friendly Sports Department as they continue driving sport forward with a whole school approach. The successful candidate will be an exceptional coach required to assist with Swimming sessions for a range of age groups from Reception through to our Senior School students in our Monkton Leisure Centre based at the Monkton Prep School. The aim of this role is to assist with swimming coaching across our School swim squad, Reception to Year 2 classes and, in Year 9 PE swim lessons. 

This position would report to and work alongside our Head of Individual Sport, Head of Swimming Development as well as the Head of PE, to deliver Swimming coaching to a range of year groups for our School Swim Squad, Reception to year 2 classes, and Year 9 PE sessions. 

Swim Squad is our extra-curricular Swimming provision for students from Year 3 to Year 13 and the working hours for this will be Wednesday morning 7:00am-8:00am and Saturday morning 7:30am-8:30am with the potential to occasionally support with some Monday evening sessions. For this role we will also be looking for someone to support and coach our Reception - Year 2 Swimming lessons on a Wednesday which take place from 10:15am-11:00am and 1:45pm-3:15pm. The final session that we are looking for support with is our Year 9 PE Sessions which take place between 3:00pm-4:00pm on a Friday. These sessions will involve teaching a group of students of mixed ability to work on and improve their Swimming skills.

MSS Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead - Internal

Monkton is seeking the next MSS DDSL from September 2024. 

The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead will manage referrals, liasing with the Principal or DSL to update them of all ongoing issues and enquiries. You will act as a source of support, advice and expertise to staff on matters of safety and safeguarding and when deciding whether to make a referral.

The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead should receive appropriate training carried out every two years in
order to understand the assessment process for providing early help and intervention and have a working knowledge of how local authorities conduct a child protection case.

You will ensure each member of staff has access to and understands the school’s child protection policies and
procedures, ensuring all new staff receive training in a timely manner after commencing employment.

Overall you will be alert to the specific needs of children in need, those with special educational needs and young carers; be able to keep detailed, accurate, appropriate, secure written records of concerns and referrals; and encourage a culture of listening to children and taking account of their wishes and feelings, among all
staff, in any measures the school may put in place to protect them.
