Year 11 Senior

Monkton academic scholar and military boarder, Toby J, has achieved top marks in all his GCSEs as well as his Higher Project Qualification (HPQ).

Toby took on a challenging mix of 11 diverse subjects including: Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Latin, Music, 3D Design to mention a few, and he received a grade 9 in them all.

As part of his academic journey, Toby completed a HPQ (the GCSE equivalent of an Extended Project Qualification) researching whether additive manufacturing should be used within the Military, focusing on the utility of 3D printing and similar technologies in 21st century conflicts. Toby got an A* for his piece, again the highest grade possible.

Having joined Monkton Prep in Year 6, Toby has not only excelled academically but developed into an accomplished rower. This year, he competed in Team GB trials and rowed with the Monkton Senior squad at Henley Regatta, despite being two years younger than his teammates.

Monkton’s Principal, Chris Wheeler, reflected on Toby’s achievements: “Toby’s results are nothing short of outstanding, but what really stands out is the character he’s shown along the way. He’s not only incredibly bright but also hardworking, resilient, and a true team player-qualities that serve him well beyond the classroom. Achieving straight 9s is an amazing feat, and we’re all immensely proud of him. Toby has made the most of the opportunities here at Monkton, and I’m excited to see what he’ll accomplish in Sixth Form at Monkton”.
