House Sustainability Fortnights
In sustainability this year we have introduced House Sustainability Weeks.
Farm kick-started the process back in December with a clothes swap, which ran out of stock by break time! The plan is for these to happen every week after an Exeat weekend. All unwanted stock will be donated to charity. Farm also launched a reusable cup that will be available in the cafe and will be part of a Monkton range that encourages reuse.
In the New Year it was the turn of Nutfield, who decided to put a bird feeder into every house garden to coincide with the RSPB's Big Garden Bird Watch. This was completed by Year 12's in Environmental Education. House Sustainability leads will keep the feeders in our house gardens topped up, and each house also has a bird ID sheet to help students recognise the birds. The world is suffering biodiversity loss at an extraordinary rate and we can do our little bit by offering feeding stations, which also enables us to have a greater awareness of the birds in our gardens.
We look forward to seeing what the other houses get up to throughout the rest of the year!
