Our pupils have been treated to some fantastic workshops with external performers over the last couple of weeks.

First, we welcomed Phantom of the Opera cast member Sam Haughton back to Monkton to put the whole of Year 9 through their paces in a brilliant set of dance routines.

Our Music and Dance Scholars we then given a workshop by ex-Stomp member Ollie Tumner, who mixed movement, rhythm and body percussion in an incredible challenging but great fun afternoon!

And finally, our Year 12 English and Drama students enjoyed a morning of Shakespeare workshops with actor Edward Bennett. Working through scenes from ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘Twelfth Night’, Edward taught our students about the power of performance in shaping meaning. He shared his ideas on logos, ethos and pathos as fundamental to understanding Shakespeare’s dramatic action and drew some remarkable (and unexpected!) performances from our students. It was a highly engaging and fun morning of acting, learning and leaving comfort zones behind.
