Salisbury Cathedral Evensong
On Tuesday 17th October, the Monkton Chapel Choir travelled to Salisbury to sing a service of Choral Evensong in the Cathedral. The 35-strong choir, made up of students from Year 9 to Year 13 sang the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in B flat by Stanford, verses from Psalm 89 and responses by Naylor.
Additionally the choir sang Like as the hart, a lyrical setting of Psalm 42 by Herbert Howells, who was Assistant Organist in Salisbury Cathedral in 1917.
After singing beautifully, the choir made their way to Zizzi’s for a well-earned pizza and pasta re-fuel, before returning to school.
Many thanks to Mr Gooddy for leading the choir so brilliantly as always, and Mr Sidders and Miss Bartholomew for also coming with us and singing so supportively!
