Old Monktonian Oli Fussell has been selected to play Rugby Union for the US Colleges tour of France over the summer.

Oli was previously Head Boy of Farm House and received a Rugby Scholarship to Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina.

An invitation to play for regional team, the South East Bears, allowed Oli to gain experience in national tournaments and later be named as an All American.

Oli will now tour France as one of the best players that the USA has to offer at collegiate/university level.

There are three games on tour, firstly on the 20th June against the Flanders Barbarians, made up from the best players in the Hauts-de France region and the Belgian National Team.

On the 27th June, they play the French Army who are currently the World Champions of Armed Forces Rugby, then finally on the 4th July they play the French Universities XV who recently beat the English Universities.

This tour celebrates 100 years of the two countries playing against each other and also coincides with the 80th anniversary of the D-day landings.
