Harry's hockey adventure
Earlier this year Monkton Year 6 pupil Harry Edge was invited to join the boys and girls from the U15 Canadian National hockey squads on a training tour of France, Holland and Belgium.
Harry’s family had previously lived in Montreal for two years during which time Harry played for the Quebec U12s before being invited to train and play with the U15s. He went to the Canadian Nationals last year with them and they won the whole competition.
Here Harry gives his account of the tour:
My hockey tour started in Lille, France. We practised with Wattignes and then played against the French team. We won 2-1 and then went back to the hotel and packed to go to Bruges.
Then we all headed to Amsterdam and went to the hostel. We played against the Dutch team and won 7-0, and I scored a goal. We then headed to Den Bosch and played a better Dutch team and won 3-2. In Brussels we played Belgium and lost 3-1 which broke our winning streak, but they were an incredible team.
My favourite part of the trip was meeting Victor Charlet the Captain of the French team. He gave us all a training session and I got one of his sticks. I'm really appreciative of Monkton letting me go on this trip because now I am going to the Canadian Nationals playing for Quebec.
