On Friday 25th January, at the IAPS Regional Finals at King’s Bruton, the U11 Boys’ Hockey team from Monkton Prep School was yet again successful in gaining a place at the National Finals, to be held at Rugby School in March. The squad of ten boys came runners-up in the Cup competition, losing only to King’s Hall Taunton in the final, having beaten Mount Kelly, Walhampton, Castle Court and Durlston Court on their way to the gold medal match. They played superbly, held their nerve in a penalty shoot-out, scored last minute winners and, to cap it all, drew compliments from the watching spectators and staff from other schools for their humility and grace in victory, always seeking to congratulate their opponents before celebrating.

Their coach, Jonny Goode, said, “I wish them luck at the Finals, and I know that they are determined to improve as individuals and as a team. I am very proud of their efforts, and it is a real pleasure to coach such a vibrant, dedicated group of players."
