Monkton’s Senior Production of Into the Woods: A Magical Triumph

Congratulations to everyone who made Monkton’s Senior School Production of Into the Woods such a special event!

From the moment the curtain rose, the audience was transported into the enchanting world of Sondheim’s beloved musical, where fairy tales intertwine in a spellbinding journey of comedy, tragedy, and self-discovery. The performances showcased the incredible talents of our pupils, who embraced the challenge of bringing complex characters to life with passion and authenticity.

However, a production of this scale is far more than just what happens on stage. It is a testament to the dedication and teamwork of so many individuals who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. From learning lines and perfecting stage movements to organising props and hiring costumes, every detail contributed to making Into the Woods an unforgettable experience. The sound and lighting teams created an immersive atmosphere, while the musicians brought Sondheim’s intricate score to life with skill and dedication.

Beyond the performers, the show could not have happened without the incredible support of our backstage crew, technicians, front-of-house assistants, staff, caterers, and domestic teams. Every role was vital in ensuring the smooth running of the production, from the first rehearsals to the final bow.

The performances were filled with moments of laughter and poignancy, silliness and depth, music and storytelling—truly embodying the magic of theatre.

Well done to everyone involved and to our wonderful audience members who came to support. This was indeed a very special Monkton moment, and we could not be prouder of what was achieved!
