Clarendonians come to Monkton to celebrate milestone
Over 65 Old Clarendonians with guests gathered at Clarendon House (one of our boarding houses named after the school) to celebrate the School's 120th anniversary. I was also conicidentally the anniversary of the fire that destroyed Kinmel Hall in Abergele forcing the School to move to new premises in 1976. A new headmistress took over named Jean Howell and everyone on Saturday was delighted that she was at the reunion. In 1992 Clarendon merged with Monkton Combe School with whom it had many connections over the years, this now confirmed Monkton as fully co-ed.
After welcoming drinks and a chance to catch up with old friends, the gathering moved down to the School for a buffet lunch in the Dining Hall. The day was blessed with beautiful weather and everyone agreed it had been a memorable and happy occasion.
