Monkton Prep Hosts IAPS Triathlon for Third Year
Sunday 19th May saw the return of the annual IAPS Triathlon to Monkton Prep School. The school site looked stunning in the sunshine as over 300 competitors from over 20 schools attended the National event that we so proudly host. Athletes compete in four categories, from Under 10 (Year 5) through to Under 13 (Year 8), with the swim, cycle, and run distances adjusted for each age group.
Fifteen Monkton pupils were selected to compete, and represented as true ambassadors for the school with some impressive performances across the day. A special highlight was Jaden G who took to the podium in the Under 10 Boys category, winning the bronze medal in his debut at IAPS Triathlon. In the U11 Girls category Rosabella won the gold medal and became the IAPS Triathlon champion for the second time, defending her title with pride. In total we had 7 top 10 finishes across the age groups, and 4 more in the top 20.
We are so proud of all our pupils who took on the challenge of this multi-sport event and showed lots of improvements in the swim, bike, run and transition areas, with many achieving personal bests. It was also fantastic to see our community come together in true Monkton style to support this event, with staff, parents and pupils all volunteering to help make the day a resounding success.
