This summer, over 80 super sized, individually decorated owl sculptures have been nesting across Bath and the surrounding area, including Monkton, as part of the Owls of Bath 2018 public art sculpture trail.

Monkton Combe School sponsored one of the eye-catching 110cms tall owl sculptures, which was decorated by Old Monktonian and current Artist in Residence, Tom Fussell, an aspiring Illustrator specialising in Pen and Ink design for Album and Book covers, usually on the theme of Mythology and Nature.

Tom's owl is beautifully painted to show a passage of time via some of Bath's history and important features, from the Roman Era to modern times along the branches of the “Tree of Knowledge”, which weaves its way up the sculpture.

The owls are being auctioned at the Apex Hotel in Bath this Wednesday 17th October and anyone who would like to bid can find details below.

100% of profits from the Owls of Bath auction will be donated to four excellent Bath charities.

BIDDING - As well as the live auction, tickets for which can be bought at https://minervasowls.org/shop/, it will also be live online at The Auction Room from 7.45pm on Wednesday, so you can bid from anywhere in the world! Alternatively you can leave an absentee bid at https://minervasowls.org/absentee-phone-bidder-registration/. Bonhams, who are managing the bidding, would then bid on your behalf.

THE AUCTION - The Chair of Creative Bath and Media Clash, Greg Ingham, will be hosting the evening and charity auctioneer Addison Gelpey and Olympic gold medalist Amy Williams MBE, who has painted OWLympus the Owlet, will be auctioning the owls. There will be a Big Hoot drinks reception and food first, with real live owls to have your photo taken with and all 61 of the owls being auctioned will be there too, including Tree of Knowledge!
