Monkton hosts parliamentary candidates for Hustings event
Running in Parallel to the current General Election campaign, students at the Senior School have been involved in their own election. Five candidates ran a very hardworking campaign, trying to convince their peers to give them their vote.
As part of this campaign, those candidates invited the parliamentary candidates for North East Somerset to an external hustings which was held in the Chapel on Tuesday last. Nick Coates of the Liberal Democrats, Mark Huband of the Labour Party and Fay Whitfield for the Green Party gave up their time to answer a range of questions asked by students and parents.

Jacob Rees-Mogg, the Conservative Party candidate, was invited but decided not to attend. It was a fascinating and informative evening which inspired our candidates as they entered the final day of their campaign. The result was a high turnout of voters, and a victory for Sophie Goodman, the Liberal Democrat candidate. We thank Nick, Mark and Fay for their time and their inspiration of our students
