Economics

A level

Economics is a very popular course and many students use it as a stepping stone to studying: Economics, Management, Finance, Politics and careers, such as Journalism at university. No prior knowledge is required but a strong interest in current affairs is essential. Students will develop an understanding of economic concepts and theories through a critical consideration of current economic issues, problems and institutions that affect everyday life. They will also analyse, explain and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the market economy and the role of government within it, and also study the national and international economy.

At AS, students study two units: Markets in Action and The National and International Economy. The A2 units are Transport and Economics and the Global Economy. There is no coursework.
