Farm House

Boys boarding House

The Ling family

Tim and Ros Ling have been the houseparents of Farm House since September 2010. Tim did a Modern Languages degree at Exeter University and taught French and Italian in London for a few years before being ordained as a vicar in the Church of England. In September 2009, after seventeen years in parish ministry he joined the staff at Monkton as Head of Religious Studies and Farm House tutor. He enjoys all sports, particularly football, (where he has been a qualified referee in his time,) cricket and tennis.

Ros did a Music degree, also at Exeter. She worked at the House of Commons as secretary to an MP before training as a Primary School teacher and is now a part time Teaching Assistant at a local Primary School supporting children with learning difficulties. She was brought up in a boys’ boarding house where she even enjoyed playing rugby with the boys!

They have four children, Toby is studying Theology at Exeter after seven happy years in Hill House and Farm House, whilst Gina, Camilla recently left and will be studying English at Exeter and Johnny is still in the Senior School.

Tim and Ros have been associated with Farm both as parents and tutor for the last eight years. They have always been deeply grateful for what a happy and caring place it is. Their aim is for Farm to be a family in which each boy finds his own unique place and from which he can go out confidently to make the most of all that the School has to offer.
