Photography is a popular subject, that has thrived and sent out a large number of students to Photography related careers and degree courses. The courses are taught in the new facility on the school campus, including a large darkroom and two separate Mac suites.
Students study Photography (OCR). It is an exciting and demanding subject that presupposes interest and talent. The course involves many elements of creative practice and an individual, personal response to the work is encouraged. There is a technical element to the course, with film, digital and cameraless processes explored. Throughout the course students are required to evaluate other artists' work, both visually and in written form.
At A level, the emphasis of the course is on learning and practice of investigative skills - the process. The students all work on individual projects "creating visual meaning through lens based media by an expressive response to a personal context or social issue".
Areas of study:
Students are required to work in one or more area(s) of photography, such as those listed below. They
may explore overlapping areas and combinations of areas:

• still life photography (working from objects or from the natural world)
