Monkton's triumphant Ten Tors Team

Tuesday, 09 May 2017

For the second year participating in the event Monkton entered a 35 mile team into the 57th Ten Tors challenge. We are pleased to have been able to enter a mixed team comprised of Tom Cook, Ed WiImott, Charlie Palmer, Gabriella Watt, Rory Coulson, and Henry Wilkinson. All who took part, as well as those who were involved in the training, should be congratulated for the hard work and effort put into the preparation and completion of this physical and mental challenge.

The team learnt from mistakes in their training and had to dig deep to complete the challenge as a full team which they did well. They will have learnt a lot about themselves in a situation they are unlikely to experience otherwise. From the moment they set off from the start at 7am on Saturday morning they were self-sufficient. Navigating and organising themselves to get around their allocated route - even waking themselves up at 4.45 on Sunday morning to be able to cook breakfast and pack away their gear to be ready to set off at 6am. They had to work as a team and support each other to motivate themselves to keep going and complete their course. To view some images from the event please click here.
